At the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix, Mercedes driver George Russell secured his first win of the season by beating Max Verstappen. Lando Norris had to retire after a collision with his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. Russell, who started from pole, successfully defended his position against Verstappen and maintained a comfortable lead throughout the race. Despite Verstappen’s efforts with pit stops, Russell managed to stay ahead and clinch the victory by delaying his final stop. Behind them, Russell’s teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli impressed with a strong performance, securing third place. McLaren’s Piastri, facing unexpected challenges with tire wear, narrowly missed out on a podium after a collision with Norris, who admitted his mistake and suffered a significant points loss. Ferrari faced disappointment with Charles Leclerc settling for fifth place, and Lewis Hamilton had a challenging race due to slow pace and damage from hitting a groundhog.
